Perspective
Perspective program is a Christian Integration for Young Adults with Disabilities. NLI has run the “Perspective” program since 2007. Six groups of people with partial or total blindness, 8-12 in each group, have participated in the program.
Every member of society has equal rights for conditions necessary for enjoying a full life. One of the social problems of Armenia is that individuals with disabilities are isolated from society at large, and thus, have limited opportunities for personal growth.
The project of “Christian Integration of Young Adults with Disabilities” carried out by NLI aims firstly: to contribute to the integration of those young people into society through passing Christian values to them and leading them to church and secondly: to help them improve and utilize their personal skills and abilities. The purpose of the program is to help individuals with disabilities to improve their self-esteem and overcome complexes of communication and self-expression by providing young people with disabilities spiritual knowledge and contributing to their personal and professional growth.
For these purposes, the project includes courses for spiritual growth, handcrafts, computer courses, English language courses, as well as psychological consultation and support.
As a result, young people with disabilities essentially overcome the complexes causing obstacles in their way of self-expression, get engaged in social and spiritual spheres, and participate in other programs of NLI.
The program seeks to provide disabled young over 18 years old with basic Christian knowledge and lead them to church, help them discover their actual potential and improve self-esteem, as well as to contribute to the improvement of communication between disabled individuals and society.
Its structure gives the opportunity to repeat the same 2-year program by involving in the new starting program some of the participants of the finished one as assistants. Thus, every repeated program will become an opportunity to serve those who have finished the previous one.
